Patrick Penn, Jalon Britton

Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, Jalon’s drive to help people was evident from an early age. At only 16, Jalon along with his three siblings and cousins started their first nonprofit, providing safer entertainment options for inner city youth and holiday meals to families in need.

Following graduation from high school, Jalon attended Arkansas Baptist College where he played baseball for two years.

After college, Jalon pursued a career at Kids Across America where he worked as a counselor, supervising and guiding kids through the camp's daily schedule. He was soon promoted to the camp leadership team as the Programs Director.

In 2016, Jalon left Kids Across America to become a ParaEducator Professional for the Wichita School District, which lead to him receiving the "Good Apple" award in 2017 while working at Buckner Elementary School. A prestigious award presented to only a few teachers per quarter, Jalon won thanks to the votes of his fellow co-workers and teachers for going above and beyond in his work and for always having an excellent attitude.

Jalon published his first book, a mystery thriller titled “Sweet Deception” in 2018. That book was soon followed by a second, “Wake Up, Wake Up, Time for Another Day,” a book Jalon co-wrote with a former fellow teacher. The book is about brothers who confront racial bullying.

Today, Jalon is a happily married father of four who continues his paraeducator career at Truesdale Middle school and North High, where he was hired as an assistant football coach for the 2020-2021 football season.

Once elected, Jalon’s top priorities are mental health and foster care reform and education.
